The Nature of God and Creation

Ever wondered what Christians actually believe about God? They see God as having several key qualities that make Him unique. Omnipotence means God is all-powerful, whilst being omniBenevolent means He's all-loving. Christians also believe God is both merciful (forgiving when we mess up) and just (fair in His judgements).

The Genesis creation story tells us that God made everything in six days, then had a well-deserved rest. It's not just about the timeline though - it shows Christians that God is the ultimate creator of everything around us.

Incarnation is a massive deal in Christianity. This fancy word basically means that God became human in the form of Jesus. Think of it like God putting on a human costume, except it was real - Jesus was fully God and fully human at the same time.

Quick Tip: Remember that Christians see God as both immanent (present with us now) and transcendent (beyond our physical world).

Jesus's Death, Resurrection and What Comes Next

The crucifixion and resurrection are absolutely central to Christian faith. Jesus was executed on a Friday, buried in a tomb, but by Sunday morning, that tomb was empty. Christians believe this shows that good triumphs over evil and that death isn't the end of the story.

After rising from the dead, Jesus spent time with his disciples before the Ascension - when he returned to heaven. Before leaving, he told his followers to continue spreading his message of love and forgiveness.

Christians believe in life after death, with heaven as a place of peace and joy for those who've lived good lives. Hell, on the other hand, is described as eternal suffering for those who've rejected God. The afterlife depends on both faith in God and how you've treated others.

Sin and salvation work hand in hand. Sin separates us from God (starting with Adam and Eve's original sin), but salvation through Jesus brings us back. The first five books of the Old Testament - Genesis through Deuteronomy - provide guidance on how Christians should live.

Remember: Christianity teaches that eternal life is a gift from God, beginning properly on Judgement Day when Jesus returns.
