Kaj je kemija in njen pomen
Zakaj bi se učil kemije? Ker je povsod okoli tebe! Ko kuhaš jajce, se beljakovine v njem spremenijo - to je kemijska reakcija.
Snov je vse, kar ima maso in zavzema prostor. Voda, zrak, tudi ti si narejen iz snovi! Lastnosti snovi so značilnosti, po katerih jih prepoznamo - barva, gostota, vrelišče (fizikalne lastnosti) ali gorljivost (kemijska lastnost).
Atom je osnovni gradnik snovi, molekula pa je skupina atomov, povezanih skupaj. Molekula vode (H₂O) ima dva atoma vodika in en atom kisika.
Tip: Atomi se med kemijsko reakcijo ne uničijo, samo prerazporedijo se v nove kombinacije!
Kemija v vsakdanjem življenju
V kuhinji se dogaja prava kemija! Kvas v testu povzroči fermentacijo, pri kateri nastaja CO₂ - zato testo vzhaja. Konzerviranje s soljo ali kisom preprečuje rast mikroorganizmov zaradi kemijskih procesov.
V kopalnici zobna pasta vsebuje fluorid, ki kemijsko reagira z zobno sklenino. Mila imajo posebne molekule - en del se veže na maščobo, drugi na vodo, zato lahko umijejo umazanijo.
Čistila za odtoke vsebujejo močne baze, ki kemijsko razgradijo maščobe in lase. Tudi zdravila delujejo na osnovi kemijskih procesov v telesu.
Zanimivost: Plastika je narejena iz nafte preko kompleksnih kemijskih procesov. Skoraj vse okoli tebe je produkt kemije!
Praktični primeri kemijskih reakcij
Rjavenje železa je odličen primer kemijske spremembe. Železo reagira s kisikom in vodo, nastane rja (Fe₂O₃) - popolnoma nova snov z drugačnimi lastnostmi.
Tablete proti zgagi delujejo s reakcijo nevtralizacije. Bazična snov iz tablete (kalcijev karbonat) reagira s kislino v želodcu in nastanejo nevtralne snovi.
Fotosinteza je ena najpomembnejših kemijskih reakcij! Rastline iz vode in CO₂ proizvedejo glukozo in kisik s pomočjo sončne svetlobe.
Pomembno: Pri kemijski reakciji nastanejo nove snovi z drugačnimi lastnostmi. To je ključna razlika od fizikalne spremembe!
Razlika med fizikalno in kemijsko spremembo
To je pogosto vprašanje na testih, zato si dobro zapomni! Fizikalna sprememba spremeni le obliko ali agregatno stanje - taljenje ledu, trganje papirja. Sestava ostane ista.
Kemijska sprememba ustvari nove snovi z drugačnimi lastnostmi. Gorenje lesa, rjavenje železa, peka peciva - vse to so nepovratne kemijske spremembe.
Kemija je pomembna za hrano (kuhanje, konzerviranje), zdravje (zdravila), materiale (plastika, kovine) in energijo (baterije, goriva). Brez kemije ne bi imeli sodobnega življenja!
