Uvod in ključni pojmi
Predstavljaj si, da moraš delati za nekoga drugega brez plačila, mu oddajati del svoje hrane in še dodatne davke plačevati! Točno to so morali početi podložniki - kmetje, ki niso bili svobodni.
Podložnik je bil kmet, ki je bil popolnoma odvisen od svojega zemljiškega gospoda (plemič ali cerkev). Moral je opravljati tlako - neplačano delo na gospoških poljih. Poleg tega je moral plačevati desetino cerkvi (desetino svojega pridelka).
Ko so razmere postale neznosne, so se kmetje oprli. Njihov glavni slogan je bila "stara pravda" - hoteli so nazaj stare pravice, ki so jih imeli nekoč. Niso hoteli revolucije, samo pravičnost.
Pomembno: Kmetje niso bili leni ali nezahvalni - preprosto so hoteli preživeti in imeti osnovne pravice!
Vzroki za upore
Zakaj so se kmetje sploh uprli? Razlogov je bilo kar nekaj in vsi so bili povezani z vedno težjim življenjem.
Gospodarski vzroki so bili najhujši. Gospodje so zahtevali vedno več dni tlake, uvedli so nove davke, kmetom pa prepovedali trgovanje s svojimi pridelki. To je pomenilo, da so morali prodajati gospodu po nizki ceni.
Politični vzroki so bili prav tako pomembni. Gospodje so samovoljno spreminjali zakone in odvzeli kmetom "staro pravdo" - stare, nepisane pravice, ki so bile bolj pravične. Njihova moč je postajala neomejena.
Dodatno breme so bili tudi turški vpadi - zaradi obrambe so morali kmetje plačevati še več davkov deželnim knezom.
Zanimivost: Kmetje niso hoteli uničiti sistema - hoteli so ga samo popraviti in se vrniti k starim, pravičnejšim pravilom.
Največji slovenski upori
Največji kmečki upor v slovenski zgodovini je bil leta 1515 - vseslovenski kmečki upor. Razširil se je skoraj po vseh slovenskih deželah in vključeval je okoli 80.000 kmetov!
Upor se je začel v Slovenski Konjici, nato pa se je hitro širil. Kmetje so bili presenetljivo organizirani - ustanovili so kmečko zvezo, imeli svojo vojsko in celo zavzeli gradove. Na Ptujskem gradu so razglasili svojo vlado.
Drugi pomembni upori so bili: koroški upor (1478), hrvaško-slovenski upor (1572-73) z vodjo Matijo Gubcem in tolminski upor (1713). Vsi so imeli podoben vzorec - začetni uspeh, nato pa kruto maščevanje.
Kmetje so zahtevali vrnitev "stare pravde", pravico do trgovanja in da bi si sami sodili. Na žalost so vsi upori končali s krvavim porazom.
Ključno za test: Zapomni si letnice glavnih uporov in da je največji bil leta 1515!
Potek in konec uporov
Kako so kmečki upori pravzaprav potekali? Na začetku so bili kmetje pogosto uspešni - zavzeli so gradove, uničevali gosposko lastnino in organizirali svoje uprave.
A nato je sledil obrat. Plemstvo je zbralo močno vojsko z izkušenimi poveljniki. Pri Celju so leta 1515 odločilno premagali kmečko vojsko. Maščevanje je bilo grozljivo - voditelje so usmrtili, navadnim kmetom pa naložili še višje davke in tlako.
Zakaj so upori propadli? Razlogov je bilo več: kmetje so se borili s kmečkim orodjem proti oklepnikom z meči in topovi. Niso imeli vojaških izkušenj, pogosto pa tudi niso bili enotni med seboj.
Ironično se je po vsakem uporu položaj kmetov še poslabšal. Gospodje so se maščevali in uvedli še strožje pravila. Kljub temu ti upori kažejo na dolgotrajni boj za pravičnejšo družbo.
Pomembno za razumevanje: Upori niso bili neuspešni zaradi pomanjkanja poguma, ampak zaradi vojaške premoči plemstva.
