Speed Distance, Time Speed now for you travel in a set amount of time. If a speed was 30mph : Time Distance. I hour 30 miles 2 hours 60 miles 3 hours a0miles 4 hours 120 miles 10 hours 1300 miles. Speed = distance = time 5=& Speed = distance + time! Distance = speed x time? Time = distance & speed S=180=45mph 4 Worked example:! A car travels 180 miles in 4 hours calculate the average speed, in mph, of the car. a speed = discance & time s = d 5/5/20 S = 400 = 8m/s SO worked example: kevin runs 400 metres in so seconds work out his awerage speed. S T= 7 hours 25 T summary speed = ouscance = time Distance = speed x time Time = distance: speed The car travelled at 4smph Warued example: A train travels 175miles at an average speed of 25mph. Work Ove now long the journey lasts Time = distance = speed T = d S worked example: A bird flies for 6 hours out an average speed of 40um /n. calculate now for the bird flies. Distance = speed x time d=sxt α = 40 x 6 = 240km TO get 2 hours 30 minutes into nours you can put it into a fraction and cancel down - 30=1= 2. Shours. 30=1/12/200 60 TO get 4.2 hours into hours and minutes you can multiply the decimal by 60 minutes - 0.2 x 60 = 12 4-2 hours = 4 hours 12 minutes.
