Die Ruhrbesetzung und ihre Folgen
Die erste große Krise des Jahres 1923 war die Besetzung des Ruhrgebiets durch französische und belgische Truppen am 11. Januar. Diese Aktion war eine direkte Folge des Streits zwischen den Siegermächten des Ersten Weltkriegs und Deutschland über die Reparationszahlungen.
Highlight: Die Ruhrbesetzung war eine direkte Reaktion auf Deutschlands Rückstand bei Reparationszahlungen und Lieferungen.
Deutschland, das sich in einer schwierigen wirtschaftlichen Lage befand, konnte die im Versailler Vertrag festgelegten Reparationen nicht wie vereinbart leisten. Als Reaktion darauf marschierten etwa 100.000 französische und belgische Soldaten in das industrielle Herzland Deutschlands ein.

- Die Regierung druckte massiv Geld, um die streikenden Arbeiter zu unterstützen.
- Es kam zu gewalttätigen Auseinandersetzungen mit hunderten Toten und Verletzten.
- Die öffentlichen Finanzen wurden ruiniert, was direkt zur nächsten Krise führte: der Hyperinflation.
