Perfect Tense and Future Tense

The Perfect Tense is your go-to for talking about what happened in the past - think "I have done" or "I went". You'll need either haben or sein plus a past participle that usually starts with ge-.

Most verbs use haben (ich habe, du hast, er hat), but movement verbs like "gehen" or "fahren" need sein (ich bin, du bist, er ist). The tricky bit? Some verbs don't follow the ge- rule, especially those starting with ver-, zer-, er-, über-, be-, or ge-.

The Future Tense is actually dead simple compared to English. Just use werden (ich werde, du wirst, er wird) plus the infinitive of your main verb. No complicated conjugations needed - the infinitive stays exactly the same!

Quick Tip: Remember that movement verbs like "gehen," "fahren," and "kommen" always use "sein" in the perfect tense, not "haben."

Commands, Comparisons, and Connecting Ideas

The Imperative (giving commands) follows a simple pattern: take the "du" form, drop the "-st" ending, and you're sorted. So "machst" becomes "mach!" and "spielst" becomes "spiel!" Watch out for irregular verbs like "essen" → "iss!"

Comparatives and Superlatives work similarly to English but with German flair. Add -er for comparisons ("größer als" = bigger than) and -ste for the ultimate degree. Single-syllable words with a, o, or u often get an umlaut - so "groß" becomes "größer."

When explaining reasons, you've got two options: weil and denn both mean "because," but weil sends the verb to the end of the sentence. For expressing purpose, um zu works like "in order to" - just remember the verb goes after "zu."

Remember: With "weil," the verb always goes to the end - "weil es regnet" not "weil es ist regnend."
