Der Roman "Herzsteine" erzählt die Geschichte von Sam, der mit seinen Eltern von Hamburg nach Sylt zieht. Der Grund für den Umzug ist die psychische Verfassung von Sams Mutter Fe, die aus Ruanda stammt und unter den Folgen des Völkermords leidet. Sam fällt es schwer, sein Leben in Hamburg zurückzulassen, findet aber auf Sylt in der Außenseiterin Enna eine neue Liebe.
