Les bases de l'hérédité
Imagine que tu es comme un livre avec deux types de pages. Certaines pages (les caractères environnementaux) peuvent être modifiées par ton milieu, tes habitudes et ton éducation. D'autres pages (les caractères héréditaires) sont écrites à l'avance par tes parents grâce aux gènes qu'ils t'ont transmis.
L'ensemble de tous tes caractères forme ton phénotype - en gros, c'est tout ce qui fait que tu es toi ! Cette information héréditaire se cache dans le noyau de chacune de tes cellules, portée par des structures appelées chromosomes.
Tes chromosomes sont fascinants : ils sont faits d'ADN, portent chacun plusieurs centaines de gènes, et tu en as exactement 46 dans chaque cellule. Ces chromosomes peuvent être regroupés en paires appelées chromosomes homologues.
💡 Astuce : Pense aux chromosomes homologues comme à des paires de chaussettes - elles se ressemblent mais une vient de papa, l'autre de maman !
Ces chromosomes homologues sont visuellement identiques mais ne portent pas forcément les mêmes versions des gènes (les allèles). C'est pourquoi chaque gène existe en deux exemplaires chez toi, mais avec des informations potentiellement différentes.
La reproduction cellulaire expliquée simplement
Parlons maintenant de la façon dont tes cellules se reproduisent. Il existe deux types de divisions cellulaires super importantes à connaître.
La mitose est la division cellulaire classique qui conserve toute ton information héréditaire. Avant cette division, tes chromosomes se dupliquent pour former des chromosomes à deux chromatides (deux copies identiques). Après la division, chaque cellule fille récupère des chromosomes à un seul chromatide.
La méiose fonctionne différemment et c'est elle qui forme tes gamètes (spermatozoïdes chez les garçons, ovules chez les filles). Cette division divise l'information héréditaire par deux : les chromosomes homologues sont séparés de façon aléatoire, créant des gamètes avec seulement 23 chromosomes chacun.
💡 À retenir : La méiose crée la diversité - c'est pourquoi tes frères et sœurs ne sont pas identiques à toi !
Enfin, la fécondation permet la formation d'un nouvel individu. Les gamètes fusionnent, et les 23 chromosomes de chaque parent s'associent pour reformer 23 paires dans la cellule-œuf. Et voilà comment un nouveau petit être unique se forme !
