Spanish Basics: Essential Verbs and Phrases
Ser (to be) and Tener (to have) are your first priority - you'll use these constantly! Es means "he/she/it is," whilst eres means "you are." For having things, remember tengo (I have), tienes (you have), and tiene .
Introducing yourself becomes easy with te llamas (you are called) and se llama . Think of it like asking "What do you call yourself?" rather than a direct translation.
Expressing feelings is crucial for natural conversation. Use me encanta when you absolutely love something, me gusta for things you like, and odio when you hate something. Me llevo means "I get on" with someone or something.
Top Tip: Practice these verbs with different subjects daily - they appear in almost every Spanish sentence you'll encounter!
