The Problem of Evil
Here's a puzzle that's bothered people for centuries: if God is all-powerful and all-loving, why does evil exist? This is called the Inconsistent Triad - the existence of evil seems to contradict God's nature.
Christians recognise two types of evil. Natural evil includes things like volcanoes, diseases, and natural disasters that are beyond human control. Moral evil covers deliberate human actions that cause suffering - murder, theft, rape, and war.
The Biblical response uses stories like Job, where God tested Job's faith by taking everything away from him. Job remained faithful and was eventually rewarded. The theoretical response points to free will - God gave humans choice, just like Adam and Eve chose to disobey in the Garden of Eden.
Christians respond practically through charity work, volunteering, prayer, and teaching at Sunday school. They believe these actions help combat evil in the world.
Remember: The Incarnation shows God's love for humans and demonstrates how God wants people to live.
