Understanding the Incarnation
The word incarnation literally means "en-fleshment" - God taking on human form. Christians believe this happened when Jesus was born, making him the second person of the Trinity in human flesh.
John 1:14 is the key Bible verse that explains this: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." This "Word" refers to Jesus, who Christians believe always existed as God but chose to become human. The fancy theological term homoousios describes Jesus as being of the same substance as God - fully divine yet fully human.

Evidence for Jesus' Divinity

Jesus also declares in Matthew 24:35 that his words will outlast creation itself: "Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."
