Speed is simply how fast you can move - think of it as distance divided by time. Meanwhile, strength is your ability to overcome resistance, like lifting weights or pushing against something heavy. There are different types: explosive (one powerful movement), static (holding maximum force), dynamic (repeated movements), and maximal (the absolute most force you can produce).
Power combines strength and speed together (strength × speed) - it's why some people can jump incredibly high or throw a ball with serious force. Your reaction time determines how quickly you respond to something, like catching a ball someone throws at you unexpectedly.
Flexibility measures how far your joints can move, whilst coordination is about using multiple body parts together smoothly. Think about dribbling a basketball - you need your hands, feet, and eyes all working in perfect harmony.
Key Point: These components work together rather than separately - most sports and daily activities require multiple components at once.
Cardiovascular endurance keeps your heart and lungs supplying oxygen to working muscles without getting knackered. Muscular endurance helps specific muscles keep working repeatedly without fatigue. Finally, balance (either static when still or dynamic when moving) and agility (changing direction quickly whilst maintaining control) round out the essential components.
