Understanding Attitudes in Sport
Think of attitude as your overall package of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours towards something - whether that's training, competition, or a specific skill. It's basically how you value or feel about an "attitude object" (anything you have opinions about).
The triadic model breaks attitudes down into three simple parts that work together. The cognitive component is what you think - like a footballer believing they can score the winning penalty. The affective component covers your emotions - whether you actually enjoy those gruelling training sessions or dread them. Finally, the behavioural component shows what you actually do - turning up to practice consistently or making excuses to skip it.
Remember this with the simple memory tool: Cognitive (think), Affective (feel), Behavioural (do). These three elements combine to shape your entire sporting attitude.
Key Point: All three components need to align for a truly positive attitude - you can't just think positively whilst dreading every training session!

Changing Attitudes for Better Performance
Coaches have two main weapons for transforming negative attitudes: cognitive dissonance and persuasive communication. Both are game-changers when used properly.
Cognitive dissonance works by creating mental conflict that makes you uncomfortable enough to want change. Your coach might introduce new information that challenges your current thinking, make training more enjoyable through variety, offer rewards for attendance, or bring in a role model to inspire you. The discomfort you feel motivates you to shift your attitude.
Persuasive communication is all about who says what, when, and how. The message needs to come from someone you respect (like your coach), be delivered at the right moment (not after a crushing defeat in front of everyone), and actually mean something to you personally.
Attitudes also form through past experiences , socialisation (learning from family and friends), conditioning (rewards for good behaviour), and familiarity . Understanding these helps you recognise why you feel certain ways about training.
Remember: Changing attitudes takes time, but the right approach from coaches can transform even the most reluctant athletes into motivated performers.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.
This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.
Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
