Multiplying Fractions
Multiplying fractions is dead simple - just multiply the tops together and the bottoms together. For example, 7/15 × 3/4 = 21/60, which simplifies to 7/20.
Always check if your answer can be simplified by finding common factors. Sometimes your answer might already be in its simplest form, like when 4/7 × 9/5 gives you 36/35.
When you've got mixed numbers like 2¾, convert them to improper fractions first. So 4/5 × 2¾ becomes 4/5 × 11/4 = 44/20, which simplifies to 11/5.
Quick tip: When you multiply fractions that are both less than 1, your answer will always be smaller than either fraction you started with!
