O grotesce
Groteska to szczególny rodzaj komizmu, który zestawia ze sobą przeciwieństwa - piękno i brzydotę, tragizm i komizm, fantastykę i realizm. W groteskowym świecie rzeczywistość jest przejaskrawiona, a wydarzenia kompletnie nieprawdopodobne. Zupełnie jak w absurdalnym śnie!
Nazwa pochodzi od odkrytych w XV wieku w Rzymie mozaik w ruinach pałacu Nerona. Na ścianach znaleziono dziwaczne stworzenia łączące cechy roślin, zwierząt i ludzi. Nazwano je "groteskami" od włoskiego słowa "grotta" (podziemia, jaskinia). Z czasem termin przeniknął do literatury.
Groteska ma kilka charakterystycznych cech. Miesza porządki i łamie konwencje, prezentuje absurdalny świat bez logiki, wszystko pokazuje w krzywym zwierciadle. Często wykorzystuje karnawalizację - czas zabawy, gdy normalne zasady są zawieszone. U odbiorcy wywołuje szok, dezorientację, a czasem nawet przerażenie.
