Other essential question words include Cathain (when), Cén fáth (why), Conas (how), and Cén t-am (what time). Learn these off by heart - they're like having a map when you're lost!

Your Step-by-Step Success Method
Here's your foolproof strategy that works every single time. Always read the questions first - this is the most important step! When you know what you're looking for, reading the text becomes much easier.
Next, skim through the text quickly to get the general idea. Is it about a family trip? A school event? A pet? This gives your brain a framework to work with.
Then read the text again, but slowly this time. You're now hunting for specific answers with the questions fresh in your mind. Underline sentences that might contain answers - be that detective looking for clues!
Finally, answer each question using full Irish sentences. Don't just write one word! If the question is "Cé atá sa phictiúr?", don't write "Síofra" - write "Tá Síofra sa phictiúr." You can often use words from the question to help build your answer.
Remember: The answers usually appear in the same order as the questions in the text!

Let's tackle a real example together! Here's a school notice about a cake sale happening next Friday at 10am in the school hall, raising money for the local hospital.
When you see "Cad atá ar siúl sa scoil?" (What's happening in the school?), you scan for the main event. The text says "díolachán cístí" (cake sale) - that's your answer! Write it as: "Tá díolachán cístí ar siúl sa scoil."
For "Cá mbeidh an díolachán cístí?" (Where will the cake sale be?), you spot "sa halla scoile" (in the school hall). Your full answer becomes: "Beidh an díolachán cístí sa halla scoile."
Notice how you're building answers using the question structure? This technique makes your answers clear and earns you extra marks for proper Irish sentences.
