IP in MAC naslovi: Osnove za razumevanje

Uvod v naslavljanje
Predstavljaj si, da si v velikem nakupovalnem centru in iščeš specifično trgovino. Brez številk trgovin ali zemljevida bi bilo to skoraj nemogoče, kajne? Enako velja za računalniška omrežja - vsaka naprava potrebuje edinstven naslov za komunikacijo.
V omrežjih imamo dva glavna tipa naslovov: IP naslov in MAC naslov. IP naslov je kot naslov stanovanja (se lahko spremeni), MAC naslov pa je kot tvoj EMŠO (se ne spreminja).
IPv4 uporablja 32-bitne naslove in jih zmanjkuje, medtem ko IPv6 z 128-bitnimi naslovi rešuje ta problem. Omrežna kartica (NIC) ima vgrajen MAC naslov, oktet pa je skupina 8 bitov, iz katerih je sestavljen IPv4 naslov.
Pomembno: IP naslovi delujejo med različnimi omrežji (internet), MAC naslovi pa samo znotraj lokalnega omrežja.
IPv4 naslovi
IPv4 naslovi so kot telefonske številke interneta. Imajo 32 bitov, kar pomeni približno 4,3 milijarde možnih naslovov - in ja, skoraj so jih že porabili!
Zapisujejo se v decimalni obliki s pikami: štiri števila (okteti) med 0 in 255, ločena s pikami. Primer: 192.168.1.10. Vsak IP naslov ima omrežni del (pove, v katerem omrežju si) in gostiteljski del (katera specifična naprava si).
Poznati moraš razliko med javnimi in zasebnimi IP naslovi. Javni IP dobi tvoj router od ponudnika interneta in je edinstven na celem svetu. Zasebni IP pa uporabljajo naprave doma - najpogosteje v območju 192.168.x.x.
Nasvet za teste: Zapomni si območje 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 za zasebne IP-je!
MAC naslovi
MAC naslov je kot "prstni odtis" tvoje omrežne kartice. Je 48-bitni in nespremenljiv - tovarniško določen in edinstven za vsako omrežno kartico.
Zapisuje se v šestnajstiškem sistemu: šest parov heksadecimalnih števk, ločenih z dvopičji ali vezaji. Primer: 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E. Heksadecimalne števke so 0-9 in A-F.
Prvi trije pari predstavljajo OUI (organizacijski identifikator) - povedo, kdo je proizvajalec kartice. Zadnji trije pari so edinstvena serijska številka. Tako lahko iz MAC naslova ugotoviš, ali imaš Apple, Intel ali drugo omrežno kartico!
Zanimivost: S pomočjo OUI lahko ugotoviš, ali nekdo uporablja iPhone (Apple OUI) ali Android telefon!
IPv6 naslovi in praktični primeri
IPv6 rešuje problem pomanjkanja IPv4 naslovov z 128-bitnimi naslovi - to je toliko naslovov, da bi lahko dal vsakemu pesku na Zemlji svoj naslov! Zapisuje se v osmih skupinah po štiri heksadecimalne števke: 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334.
Za krajšanje lahko izpustiš vodilne ničle in eno zaporedje ničel zamenjaš z :: (samo enkrat!). Zgornji primer postane: 2001:db8:85a3::8a2e:370:7334.
Praktičen primer analize: IP naslov 172.16.30.56 spada v zasebno območje (172.16.0.0-172.31.255.255). MAC naslov 3C-FD-FE-0A-B1-C2 ima OUI 3C-FD-FE, kar pripada Apple napravam.
Tip za teste: IPv6 krajšanje lahko uporabiš samo enkrat - sicer ne veš, koliko ničel je na vsakem mestu!
Razlike in skupno delovanje
Najpomembnejša razlika: IP naslovi delujejo na omrežni plasti (logična) in omogočajo komunikacijo med različnimi omrežji, MAC naslovi pa na povezovalni plasti (fizična) znotraj lokalnega omrežja.
Ko pošiljaš sporočilo prijatelju preko interneta, tvoj računalnik uporabi njegov IP naslov za usmerjanje, MAC naslov pa za komunikacijo z domačim routerjem.
Predstavljaj si to tako: IP naslov je kot GPS koordinate hiše (globalni naslov), MAC naslov pa kot ime osebe v hiši (lokalni identifikator).
Ključno za razumevanje: IP = "Kje si?" (lokacija), MAC = "Kdo si?" (identiteta) - to ti bo pomagalo pri vseh nalogah!
