You're looking at the Pearson Edexcel GCSE History specification - basically the official guide that tells you everything about your history course. This document shows what topics you can study, how you'll be tested, and what skills you'll develop.

Assessment Structure

Your GCSE History assessment consists of three exam papers taken in May/June, worth a total of 168 marks. You'll also be assessed on your spelling, punctuation, grammar and use of historical terminology.

Paper 1 (1 hour 15 minutes) covers your thematic study and historic environment. You might study topics like crime and punishment through history alongside a specific area like Whitechapel's policing methods.

Paper 2 (1 hour 45 minutes) combines a period study with a British depth study. Paper 3 (1 hour 20 minutes) focuses on a modern depth study, looking at countries like Germany, Russia, China or the USA during the 20th century.
