Tu vas découvrir trois penseurs qui ont secoué l'Europe du 18ème siècle avec leurs idées ! Voltaire défendait la tolérance religieuse et la liberté d'expression - imaginez, à une époque où on pouvait être emprisonné pour ses opinions.
Rousseau a inventé la théorie du contrat social, une idée géniale : le pouvoir vient du peuple, pas du roi ! Il prônait aussi l'égalité entre tous les citoyens, ce qui était complètement révolutionnaire.
Montesquieu a créé le concept de séparation des pouvoirs - diviser le pouvoir entre trois branches pour éviter qu'une seule personne devienne trop puissante. Cette idée est encore utilisée dans nos démocraties aujourd'hui !
💡 Bon à savoir : La séparation des pouvoirs de Montesquieu critiquait directement la monarchie absolue, où le roi avait tous les pouvoirs. C'était une attaque frontale contre l'Ancien Régime !

L'Encyclopédie de Diderot et d'Alembert, c'était le Google de l'époque ! Cette œuvre monumentale voulait rassembler toutes les connaissances humaines dans un seul ouvrage.
Mais attention, c'était bien plus malin que ça. Sous couvert d'articles scientifiques, les encyclopédistes glissaient des critiques contre l'Église, la monarchie et les privilèges. Ils défendaient la raison, le progrès et les droits de l'homme.
Cette stratégie a permis de former une opinion publique éclairée. Malgré la censure et les interdictions, l'Encyclopédie a préparé les esprits aux grandes révolutions qui allaient suivre, comme la Révolution française !
💡 Astuce exam : L'Encyclopédie était à la fois un outil de diffusion des connaissances ET un moyen de propager les idées des Lumières en Europe.

Les salons étaient les vrais lieux de pouvoir intellectuel ! Ces rencontres privées, souvent organisées par des femmes cultivées, permettaient aux philosophes de débattre librement sans surveillance.
Mais pourquoi tant de censure ? Parce que les idées des Lumières menaçaient directement l'ordre établi ! Les rois et l'Église voyaient leurs pouvoirs remis en question par ces philosophes qui prônaient la raison contre la tradition.
L'opinion publique se formait grâce aux livres, journaux et discussions dans les cafés. Cette nouvelle force sociale exerçait une pression croissante sur les pouvoirs en place.
💡 Pour retenir : La censure était l'arme des autorités contre des idées jugées dangereuses pour la monarchie absolue et l'influence de l'Église.

Le despotisme éclairé, c'est quand un roi absolu adopte certaines idées des Lumières pour moderniser son pays. Des souverains comme Frédéric II de Prusse voulaient le bien de leur peuple, mais gardaient tout le pouvoir !
Le contrat social de Rousseau, c'est l'opposé total : le pouvoir vient du peuple lui-même ! Selon cette théorie révolutionnaire, les citoyens sont souverains et participent à la création des lois.
Point commun : les deux visent le progrès de la société. Différence majeure : dans un cas le monarque décide tout "pour" le peuple, dans l'autre le peuple décide lui-même !
