L'émergence des régimes totalitaires
Après 1918, des régimes totalitaires apparaissent partout en Europe et changent complètement la donne politique. Ces gouvernements veulent contrôler absolument tout dans la vie des gens.
Un régime totalitaire, c'est un système avec un parti unique dirigé par un chef charismatique comme Mussolini ou Hitler. Ces leaders imposent leur idéologie à toute la société et utilisent la propagande massive pour endoctriner la population.
La différence principale entre le fascisme italien et le nazisme allemand ? Les nazis ajoutent une dimension raciale obsessionnelle avec leur antisémitisme et leur théorie de la race supérieure. Le fascisme italien reste plus focalisé sur l'État et la nation.
💡 À retenir : La propagande utilise tous les médias (radio, cinéma, école) pour créer le culte du chef et désigner des ennemis.
La crise de 1929 et ses conséquences
Le Jeudi noir de 1929 bouleverse le monde entier ! Cette crise économique part des États-Unis à cause de la spéculation boursière excessive et de la surproduction.
Les conséquences sont dramatiques : chômage de masse, pauvreté généralisée, faillites en cascade. Les gens perdent confiance dans les démocraties qui semblent incapables de résoudre la crise.
Cette situation pousse les populations désespérées vers des solutions extrêmes. Les régimes totalitaires promettent l'ordre, du travail et la grandeur nationale - exactement ce que les gens veulent entendre !
En France, la crise mène à la formation du Front populaire en 1936. Cette alliance de gauche répond aux attentes des travailleurs avec les congés payés, la semaine de 40 heures et les Accords de Matignon.

La guerre d'Espagne : répétition générale
La guerre d'Espagne (1936-1939) devient le terrain d'entraînement de la future guerre mondiale. C'est ici que tout se joue avant le grand conflit !
L'Allemagne et l'Italie soutiennent Franco en testant leurs nouvelles armes. Le bombardement de Guernica préfigure les tactiques de la Blitzkrieg. L'URSS aide les Républicains, créant une vraie confrontation idéologique.
Ce conflit oppose directement fascisme et démocratie, avec des volontaires du monde entier dans les Brigades internationales. C'est une guerre civile européenne par procuration !
La victoire de Franco renforce les dictatures et montre l'efficacité des nouvelles tactiques militaires. Les démocraties, qui n'interviennent pas, paraissent faibles face aux régimes autoritaires.
