Die Truman-Doktrin und der Beginn des Kalten Krieges
Stell dir vor, die Welt wird plötzlich in zwei feindliche Lager geteilt - genau das passierte nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Am 12. März 1947 verkündete US-Präsident Harry S. Truman seine berühmte Doktrin, die jedem bedrohten Staat militärische Unterstützung gegen sowjetische Einflussnahme garantierte.
Die Wurzeln dieses Konflikts lagen in der Potsdamer Konferenz von 1945. USA und Sowjetunion konnten sich einfach nicht über die Zukunft Deutschlands einigen - ihre gegensätzlichen Ideologien Kapitalismus und Kommunismus prallten unversöhnlich aufeinander. Während Stalin Osteuropa zu seiner Einflusssphäre machte, wuchs das amerikanische Misstrauen gewaltig.
Der Auslöser war die Irankrise: Stalin weigerte sich nach Kriegsende, seine Truppen aus dem Iran abzuziehen, weil es um wertvolle Erdölvorkommen ging. Erst 1946 zog er seine Soldaten ab - aber das Vertrauen war zerstört.
Merke dir: Die Truman-Doktrin war Amerikas Antwort auf Stalins Expansionspolitik und markierte den offiziellen Beginn der Containment-Politik - der Eindämmung des Kommunismus.
Die Folgen waren dramatisch: Deutschland wurde 1949 geteilt, die bipolare Welt mit zwei Supermächten entstand, und der Marshallplan sollte Westeuropa wirtschaftlich stärken. Iran, Griechenland und die Türkei erhielten als erste Länder amerikanische Militärhilfe gegen die sowjetische Bedrohung.
