Die vier großen Klimazonen der Erde
Stell dir vor, du könntest vom Nordpol zum Südpol reisen - dabei würdest du durch vier völlig unterschiedliche Klimazonen wandern! Der entscheidende Faktor ist dabei der Einfallswinkel der Sonnenstrahlen.
In den Tropen rund um den Äquator knallt die Sonne fast senkrecht auf die Erde, wodurch es das ganze Jahr über richtig heiß ist. Das viele Wasser verdunstet und macht die Luft super feucht - perfekt für den Regenwald!
Die Subtropen bekommen im Sommer die stärkste Sonneneinstrahlung ab, haben aber wenig Feuchtigkeit. Deshalb findest du hier die meisten Wüsten der Welt. Im Winter wird's dann deutlich kühler und feuchter.
In der gemäßigten Zone (da leben wir!) fallen die Sonnenstrahlen flacher ein, was für mildere Temperaturen sorgt. Hier gibt es richtige Jahreszeiten mit deutlichen Unterschieden bei Temperatur und Tageslänge. Die kalte Zone an den Polen bekommt am wenigsten Sonnenwärme ab, weil die Strahlen sehr flach einfallen.
Merktipp: Je steiler die Sonnenstrahlen, desto wärmer wird's - vom heißen Äquator bis zu den eiskalten Polen!
So sind die Klimazonen auf der Erde verteilt
Wenn du dir die Erde wie eine Orange vorstellst, kannst du sie in Klimazonen-Streifen aufteilen! Jede Zone hat ihre festen Breitengrade, an denen du sie erkennst.
Die Tropen liegen zwischen den beiden Wendekreisen (23,5° Nord und Süd). Dann folgen die Subtropen bis etwa 40° Nord und Süd. Die gemäßigte Zone erstreckt sich von dort bis zu den Polarkreisen bei 66,5°.
Die kalte Zone beginnt an den Polarkreisen und geht bis zu den Polen bei 90°. Diese Einteilung funktioniert sowohl auf der Nord- als auch auf der Südhalbkugel spiegelbildlich.
Ein wichtiger Punkt: In Gebirgen kann sich das Klima schnell ändern! Je höher du kommst, desto kälter wird's - deshalb kann auf einem hohen Berg sogar tropisches Klima herrschen, während oben Schnee liegt.
Gut zu wissen: Die Klimazonen sind symmetrisch um den Äquator angeordnet - was im Norden gilt, findest du auch im Süden!
