Prehľad a kľúčové pojmy
Keď sa pozrieš na mapu Afriky, Stredná a Južná Afrika zaberie obrovskú časť kontinentu medzi dvoma oceánmi. Je to región, kde sa dajú nájsť úplne všetky druhy krajiny, aké si dokážeš predstaviť.
Savana je to, na čo si pravdepodobne pomyslíš ako prvé - obrovské trávnaté pláne s roztrúsenými stromami, kde sa pasú zebry a žirafy. Púšte ako Kalahari a Namib sú naopak extrémne suché oblasti, kde prežijú len najodolnejšie zvieratá.
Rovníkový prales v oblasti rieky Kongo je ako obrovská zelená džungľa, kde prší takmer každý deň. Tu je tak vlhko a teplo, že rastie neuveriteľné množstvo rastlín a žijú tu tisíce druhov zvierat.
Vedel si? Rieka Kongo je druhá najdlhšia rieka Afriky, ale zároveň najvodnatejšia na celom kontinente!
Prírodné podmienky a podnebie
Predstav si, že by si cestoval z rovníka až na úplný juh Afriky - počas tejú cesty by sa ti klíma menila ako v rôznych svetadieloch! Pri rovníku je rovníkové podnebie - stále teplo a vlhko, takmer každý deň dážď.
Keď sa vzďaľuješ od rovníka, dostaneš sa do tropického podnebja so savanami. Tu už máš obdobie dažďov a obdobie sucha, čo je perfektné pre tie slávne africké zvieratá. Na juhozápade nájdeš púštne podnebie, kde takmer neprší.
Viktóriine vodopády na rieke Zambezi sú jedny z najkrajších na svete. Miestni ich volajú "dym, ktorý hromí" - keď ich uvidíš, pochopíš prečo!
Tip na zapamätanie: Čím bližšie k rovníku, tým viac dažďa. Čím ďalej, tým suchšie!
Obyvateľstvo a kultúra
V tejto časti Afriky žijú stovky rôznych národov, každý má svoj jazyk a tradície. Je to ako obrovská mozaika kultúr! Mnoho ľudí stále hovorí svojimi tradičnými jazykmi, ale kvôli kolonizácii sa tu používa aj angličtina, francúzština a portugalčina.
Bohužiaľ, táto oblasť čelí vážnym problémom. Veľa ľudí žije v chudobe, nemá dostatok pitnej vody ani prístup k dobrému vzdelaniu. Rozšírené sú choroby ako AIDS/HIV a malária.
Apartheid bol veľmi nespravodlivý systém v Južnej Afrike, ktorý rozdeľoval ľudí podľa farby pleti. Našťastie je už minulosťou, ale je dôležité o ňom vedieť.
Inšpirácia: Nelson Mandela strávil 27 rokov vo väzení za boj proti apartheidu a stal sa prvým čiernym prezidentom Južnej Afriky!
Hospodárstvo a nerastné suroviny
Afrika je ako obrovská pokladnica! Nerastné suroviny sú tu všade - zlato, diamanty, platina, meď, kobalt. Južná Afrika je svetovým lídrom v ťažbe zlata a diamantov, zatiaľ čo Demokratická republika Kongo má jedny z najväčších zásob nerastov na svete.
Problém je v tom, že aj keď sú krajiny bohaté na suroviny, bežní ľudia z toho často nemajú veľa. Väčšina obyvateľov sa živí poľnohospodárstvom - pestujú kukuricu, kávu, kakao alebo cukrovú trstinu.
Turizmus je veľmi dôležitý, hlavne kvôli safari. Turisti z celého sveta prichádzajú vidieť "Veľkú päťku" - leva, slona, byvola, nosorožca a leoparda v národných parkoch.
Zaujímavosť: Safari turizmus pomáha chrániť zvieratá - parky majú peniaze na ochranu prírody len vďaka turistom!
Južná Afrika a Demokratická republika Kongo
Južná Afrika je najrozvinutejšia krajina v regióne. Má moderné mestá ako Johannesburg a Kapské Mesto, dobré cesty a vyvinutý priemysel. Krajiną preteká pohorie Drakensberg (Dračie hory) a nachádza sa tu slávny Krugerov národný park.
Demokratická republika Kongo je úplne iná - obrovská krajina pokrytá pralesmi, ktorou preteká mohutná rieka Kongo. Je to paradox - má obrovské bohatstvo nerastných surovín, ale je jednou z najchudobnejších krajín sveta.
Obe krajiny ukazujú tie kontrasty Afriky. Južná Afrika využila svoje bohatstvo lepšie, zatiaľ čo DRK trpí konfliktami a nestabilitou napriek obrovským prírodným zdrojom.
Nezabudni: Rieka Kongo nie je len dopravná cesta - vyrába sa na nej aj elektrina pre milióny ľudí!
Rýchle opakovanie
Zapamätaj si hlavné kontrasty: bohatá príroda verzus chudoba ľudí, moderné mestá verzus tradičné dediny. Najdôležitejšie rieky sú Kongo (najvodnatejšia) a Zambezi (Viktóriine vodopády).
