Essential Computer Components

Your computer is basically made up of five main parts that work together like a team. Think of it like a car - each component has its own job, but they all need to work together to get things done.

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is literally the brain of your computer. Every single thing your computer does - from opening apps to playing games - goes through the CPU first. Popular CPU manufacturers include Intel and AMD, and you'll often see processors like the 4th Gen Intel Core i5 in everyday computers.

RAM (Random Access Memory) is like your computer's short-term memory. It temporarily stores all the information your computer is actively using so it can access it super quickly. The more RAM you have, the more programs you can run smoothly at the same time.

The motherboard is the main circuit board that connects everything together - it's also called the mainboard or logic board. Without it, none of your components could actually talk to each other.

Quick Tip: Think of the motherboard as the nervous system of your computer - it carries messages between all the different parts!
