Razlika med etiko in moralo

Kaj sploh sta etika in morala?
Etika in morala nista ista stvar, čeprav ju pogosto mešamo! Etika je kot detektiv, ki raziskuje, zakaj so določena dejanja prav ali narobe. Je filozofska disciplina, ki se sprašuje: "Zakaj je kraja slaba?" ali "Zakaj je pomoč drugim dobra?"
Morala pa so konkretna pravila, ki jih poznaš iz vsakdanjega življenja. To so navodila, ki si jih pridobil od staršev, v šoli, od prijateljev. Morala ti preprosto pove: "Ne kradi", "Pomagaj drugim", "Ne laži".
Najpreprosteje: etika je teorija (razmišljanje), morala pa praksa (dejanja). Etika je kot vremenoslovje, ki razlaga, kako nastajajo oblaki. Morala pa je vremenska napoved, ki ti pove: "Danes vzemi dežnik!"
Ključno za test: Etika = ZAKAJ? (teorija), Morala = KAJ? (praksa)
Kako prepoznaš razliko v praksi?
Najbolje se razlika pokaže na primerih iz tvojega življenja. Pri moralnem vprašanju se sprašuješ: "Ali naj plonkam na testu?" Morala ti da jasen odgovor: "Ne, ker je prepovedano."
Etično vprašanje pa gre globlje: "Zakaj je plonkanje narobe?" Morda ker je nepošteno do sošolcev? Ker si s tem škodišeš? Ker bi se šolski sistem porušil, če bi vsi plonkali?
Etika torej ni zadovoljna s preprosto prepovedjo. Išče argumente in utemeljitve. Morala ti da vsebino za razmišljanje, etika pa to vsebino analizira in preverja.
Pomembno: Morala se spreminja skozi čas in kulture, etika pa išče univerzalna načela!
Ključne razlike, ki jih moraš znati
Etika je univerzalna - ista etična načela lahko velja povsod po svetu. Morala pa je specifična za določeno kulturo, družino ali čas. Kar je moralno sprejemljivo v eni družbi, morda ni v drugi.
Vir etike je razum in kritično razmišljanje. Vir morale pa so družbena pravila, vzgoja, vera in tradicija. Etika uporablja argumente, morala pa avtoriteto (ker tako pravi družba, starši, vera).
Ko se znajdeš v dilemi, ti morala pove, katero pravilo uporabiti. Etika pa ti pomaga razumeti, ali je to pravilo sploh smiselno in ali ga moraš v tej situaciji res upoštevati.
Za zapomniti: Brez morale etika ne bi imela česa raziskovati. Brez etike bi bila morala samo slepo sledenje pravilom!
Kako ti to pomaga v vsakdanjem življenju?
Razumevanje razlike med etiko in moralo te naredi boljšega pri sprejemanju odločitev. Namesto da slepo slediš pravilom, začneš razmišljati o tem, zakaj ta pravila obstajajo.
Recimo, prijatelj je padel s kolesom. Morala ti pove: "Pomagaj mu!" Etika pa te vpraša: "Zakaj je pomoč dobra?" Morda ker čutiš sočutje? Ker upašev, da ti bodo tudi drugi pomagali? Ker imaš univerzalno dolžnost do drugih?
Ta razlika ti pomaga tudi pri spreminjanju moralnih pravil. Če etiška analiza pokaže, da neko pravilo ni več smiselno, ga lahko spremeniš. Zgodovina je polna primerov - suženjstvo je bilo nekoč moralno sprejemljivo, danes pa vemo, da je narobe.
Praktičen nasvet: Pri vsakem moralnem vprašanju se vprašaj ZAKAJ. To je prvi korak k etičnemu razmišljanju!
Hitri povzetek za test
