Exploring Horror in 'Jekyll and Hyde': A Grade 7+ Perspective

Horror as a Mirror of Human Nature
You'll quickly notice that Stevenson doesn't just throw in scary scenes for fun - he's making a serious point about duality of man. The horror in this novella forces readers to confront the uncomfortable idea that everyone has both good and evil inside them.
Take the trampling scene where Enfield witnesses Hyde's brutality. When Enfield says "I knew what was in his mind just as he knew what was in mine," it's basically saying all middle-class men share the same dark impulses. Even a doctor, normally described as "emotional as a bagpipe," wants to kill Hyde on sight.
The Carew murder ramps up the horror with visceral imagery - a respected politician being "clubbed to the earth" until his "body jumped." What makes this particularly disturbing is that Hyde transforms from being "cool" during the trampling to showing "great flame of anger" here. Stevenson suggests that Hyde's violence escalates when confronted with hypocrisy.
Key Point: The horror isn't random - it reveals how characters mirror Hyde's nature but hide it behind respectable facades.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.
This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.
Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
