Act 1 - The Inspector Arrives

The play opens with the Birling family celebrating Sheila's engagement to Gerald Croft. Mr Birling delivers self-important speeches about progress and business, dismissing the idea that people should care for one another in society.

Everything changes when Inspector Goole arrives to investigate Eva Smith's suicide. He shows Mr Birling a photograph, and Birling admits he sacked the girl for demanding higher wages. Whilst Sheila and Eric think their father was too harsh, Gerald supports his decision.

When Sheila sees the photograph, she realises she also played a role - she had Eva fired from a shop job out of jealousy. The situation becomes more complicated when Gerald recognises the name Daisy Renton (Eva's alias) and clearly knows more than he's letting on.

Key Point: The Inspector introduces the central theme that we all share responsibility for each other's wellbeing - a concept Mr Birling had just ridiculed.

Acts 2 & 3 - Secrets Revealed and Final Twist

Gerald confesses he had an affair with Daisy Renton for six months. Sheila feels hurt but respects his honesty. Meanwhile, Mrs Birling tries to intimidate the Inspector, but it's revealed she refused to help Eva when the pregnant girl appealed to her charity for support.

Mrs Birling cruelly blames the unborn child's father for Eva's death - not knowing she's condemning her own son. Eric then confesses he got Eva pregnant and stole money from his father's business to support her. Learning his mother turned Eva away, Eric blames her for the tragedy.

After the Inspector's powerful speech about social responsibility, he leaves. However, Gerald and Mr Birling discover he wasn't a real police officer, and no recent suicide has occurred. Just as the older generation dismisses their guilt, the phone rings with shocking news.

Final Twist: A young woman has just died on her way to the infirmary, and a real inspector is coming to investigate - suggesting the events will repeat until the family learns their lesson.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
