Mastering English Language Paper Two
Question One (4 marks, 5 minutes) is your easiest win - just find four true statements from the given line numbers. Don't overthink this one; the answers are right there in the text waiting for you.
Question Two (8 marks, 10 minutes) asks you to compare similarities or differences between two sources on a linked theme. The key here is integration - you must switch between both texts consistently rather than doing separate paragraphs for each. Use evaluative language like "while Source A demonstrates..., Source B demonstrates..." to show clear comparison.
Write two PEEL paragraphs, but remember the 'E' here isn't analysis - it's explanation of how the sources are similar or different regarding the theme. Keep your quotes relevant and your comparisons sharp.
Top Tip: Pay attention to whether the question asks for similarities OR differences - don't try to do both unless specifically asked.
