Writing tasks in this section ask you to create real-world texts like letters, articles, speeches, essays, or leaflets. You'll get a statement that sets your topic, but never start with "I agree with the statement" - that's way too basic and won't impress examiners.

The GASP method helps you nail every task perfectly. Genre tells you what type of text to write, Audience shows who you're writing for, Subject covers what you're discussing, and Purpose explains why you're writing it. Getting these four elements right from the start sets you up for success.

Your structure should follow the BIBSO framework - make your opinion crystal clear in the introduction, offer your first point with "Because," acknowledge opposing views with "But" before challenging them, provide solutions with "So," and wrap up by repeating your main point. This keeps your writing logical and persuasive.

Top Tip: Each text type has specific features - articles need headlines and straplines, letters require addresses and sign-offs, speeches must address an audience directly, essays need titles, and leaflets use bullet points and subtitles.

Examiners look for the right form, appropriate tone (formal, informal, passionate, or sarcastic), clear paragraphs, varied vocabulary, and solid spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
