Jargon is the specialised terminology that makes insiders feel like they belong and outsiders feel lost. Think about acronyms like PEEL in English essays or BRAG in business meetings. These aren't just random letters - they're powerful tools that create professional identity.
During COVID-19, we saw jargon in action. Terms like CFP and CFC became household names, showing how occupational language can either include or exclude the public. Sometimes it builds confidence and expertise; other times it creates confusion and information inequality.

How New Words Enter Occupational Language
Professional languages constantly evolve through fascinating processes.
