Close Reading Comparison Question Essentials

The comparison question tests your ability to identify how two writers agree or disagree on key ideas - not their writing style or language techniques. You're looking purely at attitudes and viewpoints here.

This question builds on your existing knowledge since you'll have already analysed passage one thoroughly through 25 marks worth of questions. Passage two is fresh territory, but you only need to focus on comparing the core ideas and attitudes between both texts.

The marking focuses on two main areas: how well you identify essential areas of agreement or disagreement, and how effectively you use evidence from both passages to support your points. Get three solid comparisons with good evidence, and you're looking at decent marks.

Quick Win: You'll score at least 3 marks just for clearly identifying three areas where the writers agree or disagree - even with basic evidence.
