Understanding Conditional Statements ('If' Clauses)
Condiționalul Prezent (Zero și Tip 1)
Condiționalul Zero folosește Present Simple în ambele propoziții (principală și secundară) și exprimă fapte generale sau adevăruri universale. Îl folosim când descriem lucruri care se întâmplă întotdeauna în anumite condiții. De exemplu: "O plantă crește dacă primește apă și lumină" sau "Dacă amesteci galben cu albastru, obții verde".
Condiționalul Tip 1 folosește Present Simple în propoziția cu "if" și will + infinitiv scurt în propoziția principală. Acest tip de condițional se referă la situații posibile sau probabile în viitor. Un exemplu bun este: "Dacă plecăm acum, vom evita traficul".
Condiționalul Tip 2 folosește Past Simple în propoziția cu "if" (cu "were" pentru toate persoanele) și would/should/could + infinitiv scurt în propoziția principală. Îl utilizăm pentru situații ipotetice sau puțin probabile în prezent sau viitor. De exemplu: "Stilul nostru de viață ar fi mai sănătos dacă am trăi pe o insulă grecească" sau "Thomas ar investi în energie solară dacă ar avea bani".
💡 Când vrei să oferi un sfat, poți folosi Condiționalul Tip 2, cum ar fi: "Dacă aș fi în locul tău, aș face o plimbare în fiecare zi."
Condiționalul Trecut (Tip 3) și Alternative
Condiționalul Tip 3 folosește Past Perfect în propoziția cu "if" și would + have + participiu trecut în propoziția principală. Acest tip exprimă situații care ar fi fost posibile în trecut, dar nu s-au întâmplat. Exemplu: "Ar fi avut timp să facă duș dacă ar fi ajuns mai devreme".
Folosim acest condițional și pentru regrete legate de trecut: "Nu ar fi înotat în ocean dacă ar fi știut că sunt rechini". Este modul nostru de a spune "ce ar fi fost dacă...".
Există și moduri de a exprima condițiile fără a folosi "if". Putem folosi inversiunea ("Had he driven here..." în loc de "If he had driven here...") sau alte cuvinte precum unless (dacă nu), provided/providing that (cu condiția ca), as long as (atâta timp cât), sau in case (în cazul în care).
💡 Poți folosi și imperativul urmat de "or/otherwise" pentru a exprima condiții în mod scurt și direct: "Pleacă devreme, altfel vei întârzia la școală."
