Napoleon Bonaparte a jeho vzostup
Určite ste počuli o Napoleonovi Bonapartovi - chlapíkovi, ktorý sa dostal od nuly až na vrchol moci vo Francúzsku. Narodil sa v roku 1769 na Korzike a už ako mladý ukázal, že má na viac než len obyčajnú vojenskú kariéru.
Francúzska revolúcia (1789-1799) mu otvorila dvere k sláve. Kým všade vládol chaos a starí aristokrati prišli o hlavy, Napoleon využil svoju vojenskú genialitu a rýchlo sa vypracoval na slávneho generála. Úspešne bojoval v Taliansku aj Egypte.
Kľúčové pojmy, ktoré musíte vedieť: Konzulát bola nová forma vlády po revolúcii, Občiansky zákonník (Code civil) zaručoval rovnosť pred zákonom, a Napoleonské vojny boli série konfliktov, ktoré rozhodovali o budúcnosti Európy.
Tip na skúšku: Zapamätajte si, že Napoleon nebol kráľ, ale cisár - rozdiel je v tom, že si moc vzal sám, nevyplývala z dedičstva!
Od revolúcie ku konzulátu
Predstavte si Francúzsko po rokoch revolúcie - všade neporiadok, slabá vláda a ľudia unavení z chaosu. Presne v tomto momente Napoleon udrel. V roku 1799 uskutočnil štátny prevrat a zaviedol Konzulát, kde sa stal prvým konzulom.
Ako prvý konzul ukázal, že vie nielen bojovať, ale aj vládnuť. Stabilizoval štát, zreformoval financie a hlavne - v roku 1804 zaviedol Občiansky zákonník. Tento súbor zákonov je jeho najväčším dedičstvom, lebo zaručoval rovnosť všetkých občanov pred zákonom a ochranu súkromného majetku.
Napoleon postupne posilňoval svoju moc. V roku 1802 sa stal doživotným konzulom a o dva roky neskôr sa nechal korunovať za cisára Francúzov. Pri korunovácii si dokonca sám položil korunu na hlavu!
Zaujímavosť: Code civil platí dodnes v mnohých krajinách sveta - to je dôkaz, aký revolučný to bol nápad!
Napoleonské vojny a ich dopad
Ako cisár viedol Napoleon Francúzsko do série vojen proti európskym koalíciám (hlavne Rakúsko, Prusko, Rusko, Veľká Británia). Prečo vlastne bojoval? Chcel rozšíriť francúzsky vplyv a zároveň si udržať moc, ale ostatné mocnosti sa báli jeho rastúcej sily.
Bitka pri Slavkove (Austerlitz) v roku 1805 bola jeho najslavnejšie víťazstvo - porazil spojené armády Rakúska a Ruska. Ale v tom istom roku prehral námornú bitku pri Trafalgare, čo znamenalo, že Britániu po mori nikdy neporazí.
Keď nemohol Britániu vojensky, skúsil to ekonomicky. Zaviedol kontinentálnu blokádu - zakázal všetkým európskym krajinám obchodovať s Britániou. Problém bol, že to poškodilo aj európske ekonomiky.
Pre skúšku: Pamätajte si rok 1805 - Austerlitz (víťazstvo na súši) a Trafalgar (porážka na mori) v tom istom roku!
Napoleonov vplyv na Európu
Napoleon doslova prekreslil mapu Európy. Rušil staré štáty (napríklad Svätú ríšu rímsku v roku 1806), vytváral nové kráľovstvá a menil hranice podľa svojich potrieb. Bol to skutočný reformátor, ktorý modernizoval všetko, na čo siahol.
Šíril myšlienky Francúzskej revolúcie - rovnosť, občianske práva a Code civil. Paradoxne však zároveň vyvolával nacionalizmus - ľudia v dobytých krajinách sa začali silnejšie cítiť ako Nemci, Španieli či Poliaci a chceli sa oslobodiť.
Pre nás na Slovensku to znamenalo, že Rakúska monarchia, ktorej sme boli súčasťou, musela neustále bojovať. To prinášalo vysoké dane, vojenskú službu a všeobecné utrpenie obyvateľstva.
Paradox Napoleona: Bol to osloboditeľ, ktorý prinášal rovnosť, ale zároveň dobyvateľ, ktorý spôsoboval utrpenie miliónom ľudí!
