Clasificarea Hidrocarburilor și Proprietăți
Hidrocarburile se împart în două mari categorii: aciclice (cu catenă deschisă) și ciclice (cu catenă închisă). În funcție de legăturile dintre atomii de carbon, ele pot fi saturate (alcani și cicloalcani) sau nesaturate (alchene, alchine și arene).
Alcanii sunt hidrocarburi saturate cu formula generală CnH2n+2 și conțin doar legături simple între atomii de carbon. Ei prezintă izomerie de catenă, sunt nepolarti și au proprietăți de combustibili. Primii patru membri sunt gaze (metan, etan, propan, butan), următorii sunt lichizi, iar cei cu peste 16 atomi de carbon sunt solizi.
Cicloalcanii sunt hidrocarburi saturate ciclice cu formula CnH2n. Prezintă izomerie conformațională și cis-trans. Nomenclatura lor IUPAC include prefixul "ciclo-" și sufixul "-an".
Alchenele conțin o legătură dublă carbon-carbon și au formula CnH2n. Acestea prezintă izomerie geometrică și de poziție a dublei legături. Participă la reacții de adiție electrofilă, polimerizare și decolorează apa de brom.
💡 Toate hidrocarburile sunt insolubile în apă dar solubile în solvenți organici datorită caracterului lor nepolar, ceea ce le determină proprietățile fizice și comportamentul în reacții chimice.
Alchine și Arene
Alchinele sunt hidrocarburi nesaturate ce conțin o legătură triplă carbon-carbon, având formula generală CnH2n-2. Ele prezintă izomerie de catenă și de poziție a triplei legături. În nomenclatura IUPAC, alchinele se denumesc folosind sufixul "-ină" și, asemenea alchenelor, participă la reacții de adiție.
Arenele (hidrocarburile aromatice) au structură ciclică și conțin unul sau mai multe inele benzenice. Benzenul, reprezentantul principal, are formula C6H6 și prezintă un caracter aromatic specific. Spre deosebire de alchene și alchine, arenele participă mai ales la reacții de substituție electrofilă, nu de adiție.
La ardere, arenele produc o flacără funinginoasă caracteristică, ceea ce le diferențiază de alte hidrocarburi. Această proprietate se datorează conținutului ridicat de carbon.
Toate aceste tipuri de hidrocarburi au importanță teoretică și practică majoră, fiind folosite ca materii prime în industria petrochimică, farmaceutică, a materialelor plastice și multe alte domenii industriale.
💡 Caracterul aromatic al benzenului îi conferă o stabilitate deosebită, făcându-l mai puțin reactiv decât alchenele, deși conține legături duble în structura sa.
