Earth's Resources and Sustainability

Understanding finite vs renewable resources is crucial for your future. Finite resources like coal and metal ores will eventually run out, whilst renewable ones can be replaced as we use them. Sustainable development means meeting our current needs without messing things up for future generations - basically, not being selfish!

We rely on Earth's resources for absolutely everything: warmth, shelter, food, and transport. Natural resources from agriculture give us food, timber, and clothes (like cotton), whilst finite resources are processed to provide energy and materials. Think of it this way - oil becomes plastic, metal ores become your bike frame.

Potable water (safe drinking water) must have low levels of salts and microbes. We get this by filtering rainwater from lakes and rivers, then sterilising it with chlorine, ozone, or UV light. For seawater, we use energy-intensive desalination methods like reverse osmosis or distillation.

Key Point: One tonne of plastic bags equals 11 barrels of oil - that's why reducing plastic use matters!

Alternative metal extraction methods like phytomining (plants absorb copper, then we burn them and extract from ash) and bioleaching (bacteria help extract metals from ores) are becoming essential as traditional mining becomes more difficult and expensive.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
