Základní klasifikace látek
V chemii si představ látky jako dvě hlavní skupiny: směsi (něco jako ovocný salát) a čisté látky (jako destilovaná voda). Směsi obsahují více složek a jejich vlastnosti závisí na tom, kolik čeho tam je.
Homogenní směsi vypadají všude stejně - třeba slaná voda nebo vzduch. Heterogenní směsi rozpoznáš na první pohled, protože vidíš různé části - jako olej na vodě nebo písek s kamínky.
Čisté látky mají vždy stejné vlastnosti, ať už jsou to prvky (jako železo nebo kyslík) nebo sloučeniny (jako voda H₂O). Jejich bod varu nebo hustota se nikdy nezmění.
Tip: Když nevíš, jestli je něco směs nebo čistá látka, zeptej se: "Vidím v tom různé části?" Pokud ano, je to heterogenní směs!
Alkany - první uhlovodíky
Alkany jsou jako chemická rodinka, kde všichni členové mají podobné vlastnosti. Začíná to methanem (CH₄) - tím, co hoří v kuchyňském sporáku, a pokračuje ethanem, propanem až po dekan.
Každý další alkan má prostě o jeden uhlík víc než předchozí. Vzorec je jednoduchý: CₙH₂ₙ₊₂ - to znamená, že vodíků je vždy dvojnásobek uhlíků plus dva.
Všechny alkany hoří a vzniká z nich oxid uhličitý a voda. Proto jsou skvělá paliva! Reakční rovnice vypadá: CₙH₂ₙ₊₂ + O₂ → CO₂ + H₂O.
Zapamatuj si: Čím delší alkan, tím vyšší má bod varu. Methan je plyn, ale dekan už kapalina!
Skupenství a fázové přechody
Skupenství látek kolem nás se neustále mění - led se rozpouští, voda se vaří, parfém se vypařuje. Tyto změny nazýváme fázové přechody a jsou úplně běžné.
Tání a tuhnutí jsi viděl tisíckrát - led v nápoji nebo čokoláda v teplé ruce. Vypařování probíhá neustále, i z čaje při pokojové teplotě. Sublimace je cool věc - látka přeskočí kapalné skupenství úplně (jako suchý led).
Číselné předpony používáme pro pojmenovávání sloučenin. Třeba CO₂ je oxid uhličitý, ale CO je oxid uhelnatý (mono se často vynechává).
Zajímavost: Jód krásně sublimuje - z černých krystalů se stává fialový plyn, aniž by se roztál!
Důkazy plynů a iontové sloučeniny
Rozpoznávání plynů je jako detektivní práce s jednoduchými triky. Oxid uhličitý pozná vápenná voda - zákaly se jako mléko. Kyslík rozsvítí doutnající třístku. Vodík udělá charakteristické "štěknutí".
Iontové sloučeniny jsou jako magnety - kladné a záporné ionty se přitahují a tvoří krystaly. Elektroneutralita znamená, že celkový náboj musí být nula - proto Al³⁺ a O²⁻ tvoří Al₂O₃.
Tyto sloučeniny mají vysoké teploty tání, jsou křehké, ale když je rozpustíš nebo roztavíš, vedou elektřinu. Proto funguje solný roztok jako elektrolyt v bateriích.
Tip na test: Iontové sloučeniny se většinou dobře rozpouštějí ve vodě a vzniklý roztok vede elektřinu!
Energie chemických reakcí
Chemické reakce jsou jako energetické houpačky - buď energii uvolní (exotermní) nebo ji spotřebují (endotermní). Hoření je exotermní, fotosyntéza endotermní.
Aktivační energie je jako kopec, který musíš vyšplhat, než se dokutálíš dolů. I když je reakce celkově výhodná, potřebuješ počáteční "kopanec" - třeba jiskru pro zapálení benzínu.
Katalyzátory jsou jako zkratka přes kopec - snižují aktivační energii, takže reakce proběhne rychleji a snáz. Skvělé na tom je, že se nespotřebovávají, takže je můžeš použít znovu a znovu.
Pamatuj: Katalyzátor urychlí reakci, ale nezmění množství produktů - je to jako lepší cesta, ne jiný cíl!
