Exploring Sub-Cellular Cell Structures

Sub-cellular Structures
Your cells are like bustling cities with different districts handling specific jobs. The cell membrane acts as the city's security checkpoint, controlling what substances can enter and leave the cell - you'll find this protective barrier in every type of cell.
Inside this boundary, the cytoplasm creates a jelly-like workspace where all the cell's chemical reactions take place. It's basically the cell's laboratory where the real magic happens.
The nucleus serves as the cell's command centre, housing all the DNA and controlling how the cell grows and moves. However, there's a catch - whilst animal and plant cells have this control room, prokaryotic cells (like bacteria) don't bother with one.
Quick Tip: Remember that animal cells, plant cells, and prokaryotic cells all share three basic structures: cell membrane, cytoplasm, and genetic material - though prokaryotes keep their DNA loose rather than locked in a nucleus!
Plant cells have some exclusive features too. The cell wall made of cellulose gives plants their sturdy structure, chloroplasts containing chlorophyll capture sunlight for photosynthesis, and the permanent vacuole stores cell sap like a built-in storage unit.
