Osmosis is simply water molecules moving across a membrane from where there's lots of water to where there's less water. Think of it like people moving from a crowded room to an emptier one - water naturally spreads out to balance things up.
The key player here is the partially permeable membrane - imagine a fence with holes that only let certain things through. In cells, this membrane lets water pass but blocks larger particles like sugar or salt.
High water concentration means loads of water molecules with few other particles mixed in (like pure water). Low water concentration means fewer water molecules because there are more other particles taking up space (like sugary syrup).
💡 Remember Water always moves from high concentration to low concentration - never the other way around!
