The Lock and Key Theory

Think of enzymes as incredibly picky bouncers at a club - they only let in molecules that have exactly the right "membership card." The Lock and Key theory explains that an enzyme's active site has a specific shape that perfectly matches its target substrate molecule.

Here's how this molecular matchmaking works: the enzyme acts like a lock, whilst the substrate is the key. Only the correct substrate can fit into the enzyme's active site, which means each enzyme can only catalyse one specific type of reaction. It's this precise fit that makes enzymes so efficient at their jobs.

Once the substrate locks into the active site, the enzyme can either break it apart into smaller pieces or stick it together with other molecules to create something larger. After the reaction finishes and the products are released, the enzyme is ready to go again - like a lock that can be used over and over with the same key.

Quick Tip: Remember that enzymes aren't used up in reactions - they're like reusable tools that can work with thousands of substrate molecules!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
