Eukaryotes vs Prokaryotes: The Cell Showdown
Your cells are massive compared to bacterial cells! Eukaryotic cells (like yours) are typically 5-100 micrometers, whilst prokaryotic cells (bacteria) are only 0.2-2.0 micrometers. That's like comparing a football to a marble.
The biggest difference is where DNA lives. In eukaryotic cells, DNA is safely tucked away in a nucleus, like important documents in a filing cabinet. But prokaryotic cells have their DNA floating freely in the cytoplasm - imagine having your homework scattered around your bedroom instead of in folders!
Both cell types have ribosomes and are surrounded by a cell membrane. However, eukaryotic cells are packed with organelles like mitochondria (the cell's power stations) and chloroplasts in plants. Prokaryotic cells keep it simple - no fancy organelles needed.

When it's time to reproduce, eukaryotic cells use mitosis (a complex process), whilst prokaryotic cells simply split in two through binary fission. There's also a group called Archaea that are prokaryotic too, so bacteria aren't the only simple cells out there.
