Cell Division and Stem Cells

Ever wondered how you grew from a tiny baby into your current size? It's all down to mitosis - a clever process where cells divide to create two identical copies. This happens in four main stages that you can remember with "Please Make A Tea": prophase (chromosomes become visible), metaphase (chromosomes line up at the cell's equator), anaphase (chromosomes get pulled apart), and telophase (two new nuclei form).

Stem cells are the real superstars here - they're like biological building blocks that can turn into any type of specialised cell your body needs. Embryonic stem cells (found in developing babies) are the most versatile, whilst adult stem cells (like those in your bone marrow) keep working throughout your entire life to help with growth and repair. Plant stem cells hang out in areas called meristems, usually found in roots and shoots.

The medical possibilities are exciting but controversial. Scientists can potentially treat serious conditions by growing stem cells in labs and transplanting them into patients, though this raises ethical questions that society is still debating.

Quick Tip: Remember that mitosis creates identical cells for growth and repair, whilst stem cells are the "master cells" that can become specialised for specific jobs!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
