diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.

osmosis is the movement of water particles from an are of high concentration to an area of low concentration, through a partially permeable membarane (barrier which allows certain things through- e.g visking tube.)

active transport is the movement of particles from low concentration to high concentration requiring energy (ATP) from the cell.

1)increasing temperature- particles move faster. 2)bigger concentration difference. 3)reducing diffusion distance- particles move side to side faster. 4)larger surface area- particles have a large are to diffuse through. 

how do you speed up diffusion and osmosis?

controlled by enzymes, if the temperature increases it will speed up to a certain point and then stop- de-natured.

enzymes speed up reactions. they are made of protein. specific. work best at optimum temperature + ph levels.
