Ever wondered what controls everything happening in your cells? The nucleus is basically your cell's headquarters. It's surrounded by a nuclear envelope (a double membrane) that acts like security, controlling what gets in and out through special nuclear pores. Inside, you'll find your DNA packed into chromosomes and a small factory called the nucleolus that builds ribosomes.
The nucleus runs the show by producing messenger RNA (mRNA) and transfer RNA (tRNA), which are essential for making proteins. Think of it as the cell's CEO, making all the important decisions and storing the instruction manual (your DNA) for everything the cell does.
Mitochondria are your cell's power stations, and they're absolutely crucial for keeping you alive. These oval-shaped organelles have a clever double-membrane design with inner folds called cristae that create loads of surface area. This is where aerobic respiration happens, pumping out ATP (the cell's energy currency) to fuel everything from thinking to moving.
Quick tip: Remember that mitochondria have their own DNA and ribosomes - they're like semi-independent power companies within your cells!
The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is like the cell's factory floor, spreading throughout the cytoplasm in interconnected sheets. There are two types that do different jobs. Rough ER (RER) is covered in ribosomes and specialises in making proteins and glycoproteins. Smooth ER (SER) looks more tubular and handles lipids and carbohydrates.
The Golgi apparatus works like the cell's post office and quality control department. It takes proteins from the ER, modifies them by adding things like carbohydrates, then packages everything into vesicles for delivery. This process ensures proteins end up exactly where they're needed, whether that's staying in the cell or being shipped outside.

The Golgi apparatus doesn't just package proteins - it's also busy making glycoproteins, producing digestive enzymes, and creating lysosomes. These lysosomes are basically the cell's cleanup crew, containing powerful enzymes like proteases and lipases that break down worn-out parts and digest materials brought into the cell.
Ribosomes might be tiny, but they're protein-making powerhouses found in every single cell. Eukaryotic cells contain 80S ribosomes (about 25nm across), while prokaryotic cells have smaller 70S ribosomes. Interestingly, mitochondria and chloroplasts also contain 70S ribosomes, which hints at their evolutionary origins.
Plant cells have some extra features that make them unique. The cell wall is like a protective suit made of cellulose microfibrils embedded in a matrix. This tough structure prevents plant cells from bursting when water rushes in and gives plants their structural strength. The middle lamella acts like cement between adjacent cells.
Vacuoles in plant cells are massive fluid-filled spaces bounded by the tonoplast membrane. They're not just storage tanks - they contain mineral salts, sugars, amino acids, and sometimes colourful pigments like anthocyanins that make flowers attractive to pollinators.
Remember: Plant cell walls contain cellulose, but fungal cell walls are made of chitin - the same tough material found in insect shells!

I know a lot of apps use fake accounts to boost their reviews but this app deserves it all. Originally I was getting 4 in my English exams and this time I got a grade 7. I didn’t even know about this app three days until the exam and it has helped A LOT. Please actually trust me and use it as I’m sure you too will see developments.
