Ever wondered how your cells are so incredibly organised? Eukaryotic... Show more

Your cells are eukaryotic, meaning they're far more complex than the simple bacterial cells you might have studied before. The key difference is compartmentalisation - everything has its place and purpose.
Think of your cell's cytoplasm as a busy city divided into different districts. Each membrane-bound organelle creates the perfect environment for specific chemical reactions. This organisation is crucial because different processes need different conditions to work properly.
The nucleus is your cell's control centre, containing all the DNA that codes for every protein your body makes. Since DNA is too precious to risk damage, it's protected by a nuclear envelope with tiny gates called nuclear pores. When the cell needs to make proteins, it creates smaller RNA molecules that can travel through these pores to the protein-making machinery.
Key Point: The nucleus never lets DNA leave - instead, it sends RNA messengers to carry instructions to the ribosomes.

Mitochondria are your cellular power stations, producing ATP (the energy currency) through cellular respiration. Hard-working cells like muscle fibres are packed with mitochondria because they need loads of energy. The inner membrane folds into cristae to maximise surface area for energy production.
Vesicles and lysosomes handle the cell's transport and waste management. Vesicles are like delivery trucks, moving materials around the cell. Lysosomes are the cleanup crew, containing powerful hydrolytic enzymes that break down worn-out organelles and cellular waste.
The cytoskeleton is your cell's internal scaffolding system. Microfilaments help with movement, microtubules act as highways for organelle transport, and intermediate fibres provide structural strength. Without this framework, your cells would collapse into shapeless blobs.
Key Point: Cells with high energy demands (like heart muscle) contain thousands of mitochondria, whilst less active cells might have just a few hundred.

Some cells have flagella or cilia that enable movement or create currents. Both follow the 9+2 arrangement - nine pairs of microtubules surrounding two central ones, allowing coordinated beating motions.
Your cells are protein-making powerhouses. Ribosomes are the actual protein assembly sites, either floating freely in cytoplasm or attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER). The RER's extensive membrane network provides workspace for protein synthesis and transport.
The smooth endoplasmic reticulum specialises in lipid and carbohydrate synthesis, whilst the Golgi apparatus acts like a post office, modifying and packaging proteins before shipping them to their final destinations.
Key Point: Cells that secrete lots of proteins are packed with rough endoplasmic reticulum - you can actually see this under a microscope.

I know a lot of apps use fake accounts to boost their reviews but this app deserves it all. Originally I was getting 4 in my English exams and this time I got a grade 7. I didn’t even know about this app three days until the exam and it has helped A LOT. Please actually trust me and use it as I’m sure you too will see developments.
