Proces celičnega dihanja - Kako celice pridobivajo energijo

Kaj je celično dihanje?
Predstavljaj si celice kot majhne tovarne, ki potrebujejo energijo za svoje delo. Celično dihanje je način, kako celice razgradijo glukozo (sladkor iz hrane) in s pomočjo kisika naredijo ATP - univerzalno "energetsko valuto" telesa.
ATP (adenozin trifosfat) je kot baterija, ki napaja vse celične procese. Ko se odcepi fosfatna skupina, se sprosti energija za rast, gibanje in druge življenjske funkcije.
Ključni "igralci" v tej zgodbi so mitohondriji - celični organeli, ki jih imenujemo "celične elektrarne". Imajo dvojno membrano in so specializirani za proizvodnjo ATP.
Pomembno: Celično dihanje ≠ dihanje s pljuči! Pljučno dihanje le dostavi kisik in odnese CO₂, medtem ko celično dihanje proizvaja energijo v celicah.
Aerobno vs. anaerobno dihanje
Aerobno dihanje poteka s kisikom in da ogromno energije - okoli 36-38 molekul ATP iz ene glukoze. To je kot popolno izgorevanje goriva v avtomobilu.
Anaerobno dihanje (vrenje) se zgodi, ko zmanjka kisika. Celice dobijo le 2 molekuli ATP, vendar lahko preživijo. To se zgodi med intenzivno vadbo, ko mišice potrebujejo energijo hitreje, kot jim jo lahko dostavimo s kisikom.
Obstajata dva tipa vrenja: mlečnokislinsko (v naših mišicah, povzroča "gorenje" med vadbo) in alkoholno (pri kvasovkah, uporablja se za pivo in vzhajanje kruha).
Praktičen nasvet: Ko tečeš in se ti zadihata, mišice preklapljajo med aerobnim in anaerobnim dihanjem. Zato se počutiš utrujeno - mlečna kislina se kopiči!
Tri faze aerobnega dihanja
1. Glikoliza (v citosolu): Glukoza se razcepi na dva piruvata. Izkupiček: le 2 ATP. To je kot "start motorja" - potrebuješ malo energije, da dobiš več.
2. Krebsov cikel (v mitohondriju): Piruvat se popolnoma razgradi na CO₂. Nastane le 2 ATP, vendar se pripravi energija za zadnjo fazo v molekulah NADH in FADH₂.
3. Dihalna veriga (na notranji membrani): Tu se zgodi čudež! Energija iz prenašalcev poganja "ATP tovarno" in nastane 32-34 molekul ATP. Kisik je ključen - brez njega se proces ustavi.
Zapomniti si: Večina energije (90%!) nastane v zadnji fazi, ki je odvisna od kisika. Zato je dihanje tako pomembno!
Splošna enačba in praktični primeri
Celotno celično dihanje lahko zapišemo z enačbo: C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂ → 6CO₂ + 6H₂O + ATP
To pomeni: glukoza + kisik → ogljikov dioksid + voda + energija. Leva strana je "gorivo", desna strana so "izpušni plini" in energija.
Med tekom tvoje telo pohitri srčni utrip in dihanje. Zakaj? Ker mišice potrebujejo več glukoze in kisika za aerobno dihanje ter morajo hitreje odvajati CO₂.
Kvasovke pri peki kruha uporabljajo alkoholno vrenje - CO₂ povzroči vzhajanje testa, alkohol pa izpari pri peki.
Zanimivost: Iz ene molekule glukoze nastane toliko ATP, da bi lahko prižgal LED lučko za nekaj sekund!

Alkoholno vrenje: Kvasovke proizvajajo etanol in CO₂. Uporablja se za pivo, vino in vzhajanje kruha.
Pazi na napako: Ne mešaj celičnega dihanja (energija v celicah) z dihanjem s pljuči (izmenjava plinov)!
