Processo de Síntese Proteica: Do DNA às Características dos Organismos

Você já se perguntou como a informação genética se transforma nas características que você observa? Tudo começa com os genes, segmentos de DNA que contêm as instruções para a construção de proteínas. Este processo acontece em duas etapas principais: a transcrição e a tradução.
O RNA é um ator crucial nesse processo e possui características específicas que o diferenciam do DNA. Ele é geralmente de fita simples, contém ribose (não desoxirribose), é mais curto que o DNA e utiliza uracila (U) no lugar da timina. Os três tipos principais são: RNA mensageiro (mRNA), RNA transportador (tRNA) e RNA ribossômico (rRNA).
A transcrição é o primeiro passo, onde o RNA mensageiro é sintetizado usando o DNA como molde. A enzima RNA polimerase se liga ao promotor do gene e catalisa a formação de uma cadeia de RNA complementar à fita molde do DNA. Este processo segue a direção 3' para 5' do DNA, e apenas a fita codogênica é utilizada como modelo.
💡 Dica importante: Lembre-se que na transcrição ocorre o pareamento de bases complementares, mas no RNA a uracila (U) substitui a timina (T) do DNA. Assim, onde há adenina (A) no DNA, haverá uracila (U) no RNA.
Tradução e Código Genético
Depois da transcrição, entra em cena a tradução, onde a sequência de bases do mRNA é convertida em uma sequência de aminoácidos que formará a proteína. É como traduzir um texto de um idioma para outro - do "idioma dos nucleotídeos" para o "idioma das proteínas".
Os ribossomos são as "fábricas" onde acontece a tradução. Eles possuem duas subunidades (maior e menor) e contêm sítios específicos: o sítio A onde entram novos tRNAs carregados com aminoácidos, e o sítio P onde o tRNA se conecta à cadeia polipeptídica em crescimento.
O código genético é a chave para entender como a informação é traduzida. Ele é considerado universal (funciona de forma semelhante em quase todos os seres vivos) e degenerado (cada códon codifica apenas um aminoácido). No total, existem 64 códons possíveis, sendo 61 para aminoácidos e 3 códons de parada (UAA, UAG, UGA).
🔍 Curiosidade: Durante a tradução, o ribossomo se move ao longo do mRNA lendo três nucleotídeos por vez (um códon). Essa leitura sequencial e precisa garante que a ordem correta dos aminoácidos seja mantida na proteína final.
