Cromossomos e Estrutura Genética
Os cromossomos são estruturas filamentosas localizadas no núcleo da célula. Eles são formados por DNA e proteínas, organizando as informações genéticas (genes) de forma linear.
A estrutura de um cromossomo é bem definida, com braços curtos e longos separados pelo centrômero. As cromátides são cópias idênticas do cromossomo, unidas pelo centrômero. Esta organização é essencial para os processos de divisão celular.
O conjunto completo de cromossomos é chamado genoma. Nós, humanos, possuímos 46 cromossomos nas células somáticas (do corpo), organizados em pares (estado diploide). Mulheres têm 23 pares completos, enquanto homens têm 22 pares mais os cromossomos sexuais XY.
💡 As células sexuais (óvulos e espermatozoides) são diferentes! Elas possuem apenas metade do conjunto cromossômico normal (estado haploide) - óvulos têm 22+X, enquanto espermatozoides têm 22+X ou 22+Y.
Divisão Celular: Mitose e Meiose
A mitose é o processo de divisão celular que ocorre nas células somáticas. Ela produz duas células-filhas geneticamente idênticas, cada uma com o conjunto completo de cromossomos (diploide). A mitose é essencial para o crescimento, regeneração e cicatrização de tecidos.
Este tipo de divisão também permite a reprodução assexuada e o processo de clonagem, já que transfere informação genética idêntica para as células-filhas. Seu papel é fundamental na manutenção da nossa vida diária!
Já a meiose produz quatro células-filhas com metade do conjunto cromossômico (haploide). Este processo é a base da reprodução sexuada, pois gera as células sexuais (gametas). A meiose garante a diversidade genética através da distribuição aleatória dos cromossomos e novas combinações de material genético.
🧬 O cariótipo humano é uma representação organizada dos 46 cromossomos de uma célula. Médicos podem analisá-lo para identificar alterações cromossômicas relacionadas a condições genéticas!
