Essential Components of Your Artist Research Page
Your artist research page needs seven key elements to hit top marks. Start with a clear title featuring the artist's name, then include at least four high-quality photos of their work. You'll also need a detailed information page with analysis, two artist copies with annotations, and one personal piece inspired by their style.
The artist information section should cover their background thoroughly. Research where they were born, lived, and studied art, plus when they died if applicable. Don't just list facts - explain what media they used and why they chose those materials.
Focus on their artistic style and characteristics next. What made their work unique? Which art movement were they part of, and how does this show in their pieces? Understanding these influences helps you analyse their work more effectively.
Top Tip: When analysing one specific artwork, structure your response around visual elements like colour, tone, texture, marks, shapes, and composition. Always end with your personal opinion and explain how the artist connects to your project theme.
Annotating Your Copies and Personal Work
When annotating your artist copies, focus on your process and technical choices. Describe what type of work you're creating (painting, collage, etc.) and explain your step-by-step approach. Which materials did you use first, and why?
