Duncan's Trust and Betrayal

Ever trusted someone completely only to be let down? That's exactly what's happened to King Duncan with the original Thane of Cawdor, who's just been executed for treason.

Malcolm reports that Cawdor died nobly, confessing his crimes and begging forgiveness. Duncan feels foolish for trusting him, admitting "There's no art to find the mind's construction in the face" - basically, you can't read someone's true intentions just by looking at them. Malcolm's Promotion and Macbeth's Dark Turn
