Quick Fact: AI is already in your daily life through things like Spotify recommendations, Google searches, and even predictive text on your phone!
There are two main types of AI that you'll encounter. Applied AI is the practical stuff you see everywhere - it's designed for specific tasks like beating you at chess or recognising your face in photos. This is what most companies use today because it actually works reliably.
Generalised AI is the sci-fi version that can learn any task and adapt to new situations. It's still mostly theoretical and researchers are working hard to develop it. Think of applied AI as a specialist doctor, whilst generalised AI would be like a genius who excels at everything.
The key difference is flexibility. Applied AI masters one thing brilliantly, but generalised AI could theoretically master everything - though we're not there yet.
